College music programs span a wide range, so it is important to understand what kind of instruction and what type of music you are interested in pursuing. Most programs include private instruction, multiple performance opportunities in both large and small ensembles, as well as a solid foundation in theory, musicianship, history, music and recording technology, and music business.

Shawn Christensen | Short Film Oscar Winner

Shawn Christensen won the Short Film (Live Action) Oscar for Curfew at the 85th Academy Awards Ceremony on February 24, 2013. Christensen, a B.F.A. alumnus of Pratt Institute in Illustration and Graphic Design, wrote, directed, and starred in the film. He plays a depressed New Yorker whose life changes after he spends a few hours babysitting his 9-year-old niece. Already a commercially successful musician, Christensen may now be on the same trajectory as that other Pratt student-turned-film star, Robert Redford.
